Mr David Ireland

I was born in Hull in 1953. I live in the lovely village of Kilham on the outskirts of Driffield in beautiful East Yorkshire England. On my doorstep are the wonderful Yorkshire Wolds, the North Yorkshire Moors and Peak District National Park with their wealth of divers Landscapes providing ample photographic opportunities. It is but a short ride from my home to the Iconic North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railways which run from Pickering to Whitby.

I have loved photography ever since I was introduced to it by my High School teacher Mr Hicks at the age of 14. From then on I have always taken a camera with me. In those early days funds were limited so one had to make do with what one could afford, mine was a Practica SLR and I used 35mm B&W film, Ilford FP4 and Kodak T Max being my favourite together with Kodak 64 and 25 ASA Slide Film. Developing the B&W Film and printing in my own Dark Room (Converted Bathroom) was great fun, who also remembers those moments. The results in those early days where good but not that great due to equipment. Over the years my favourite Camera manufacturer has been Canon and I have had several SLR types AE1, EOS 5 and EF to name but a few.

With the advent of the Digital age my passion for photography was further re-kindled and I decided to go over to a Digital Camera system. I purchased a Canon 7D together with various L series lenses and also decided to take up some professional studies in order to improve my knowledge of the photographic medium. The Royal Photographic Society recently awarded me a Licentiate for which I am very proud of. My favourite Genre is fairly varied, street photography, Nature and Landscape Photography being my most photographed imagery. I am very passionate about Monochrome photography for which I am always looking for suitable subjects.

I do like to travel where possible and my work reflects a lot of the places that my lovely wife Carol and I have visited. I do hope you like and enjoy my Images and would be pleased to hear from anyone who has any questions about any of the produced images.
